Zirconium

Zirconium 702 (UNS R60702)

Zirconium is one of the most corrosion-resistant metals in common use today. Practically it is inert to all organic and inorganic compounds and it has good thermal conductivity and erosion resistance. Due to its properties it is an ideal material for corrosion resistant process equipment. Zirconium alloys exhibit good ductility even at cryogenic temperatures and good strength comparable with other common engineering alloys. Zirconium should be considered for any process equipment where corrosion is a factor and the long-term benefits of reduced downtime, increased life expectancy and profitability are important

Zirconium 702 is a commercially pure zirconium, well known for its immunity to stress corrosion cracking and its resistance to pitting and crevice corrosion. Zirconium is a reactive metal that has a high affinity for oxygen resulting in the formation of a protective oxide layer at room temperature. A heat treating process enhanced this oxide layer, which serves as an excellent bouncing surface against a variety of corrosions in certain aggressive environments. Zr 702 has very good corrosion resistance in most organic acids, excellent corrosion resistance in mineral acids, good corrosion resistance in strong alkalis and moderate mechanical strength. Nano-Mag designs and manufactures many different styles of Zirconium process equipment including Autoclave, Reactor, Hydrogenator, Pressure vessels, Magnetic Drives, Catalyst Filters, Mini Magnetic Couplings etc. in accordance with all major international design standards and pressure vessel codes. These equipment are widely used in variety of environments across industries including chemical, petrochemical, steel and pharmaceutical application.
